Maintain Pay Plans
Navigation: Rate & Pay → Pay Plans
Click here for information on how to use a data entry window.
Pay plans can be calculated by mileage or percentage, selected in the Primary Method field. You can also create separate loaded and empty pay plans to differentiate pay based on whether the driver or carrier is traveling with cargo.
Pay Plan by Percentage

Percent Pay Plan
Field | Description |
Plan Id | Can be up to 25 characters and must be unique within the system. If you enter an ID that already exists, that pay plan will be loaded for editing. Otherwise, a new pay plan will be created. It is recommended to include the percentage and load type (loaded or empty) in the Plan ID for easy identification. |
Description | Enter details about this plan to clarify its purpose. |
Active | Check this box if this pay plan is currently in use. If unchecked, the plan will not be available for selection on carrier or driver profiles. |
Primary method | Select Percentage to structure this pay plan by percentage. |
Percent to pay | Enter the percentage to pay to the driver or carrier. |
Percent to charge | Enter the percentage to charge to the driver or carrier. |
Override payment methods

Override Payment method
Field | Description |
Payment type | Select the payment type to override. |
Percent to pay | Enter the percentage to pay for this payment type. |
Use qty 1 | Check this box to show a quantity of 1 at the calculated rate instead of showing the actual quantity of the AGR. |
Example: If detention is on a shipment, the driver could receive 100% of that payment type, while stop charges could be set to 0% so the driver receives no pay for that type.
Pay Plan by Mileage

Mileage Pay Plan
Field | Description |
Plan Id | Can be up to 25 characters and must be unique within the system. If you enter an ID that already exists, that pay plan will be loaded for editing. Otherwise, a new pay plan will be created. |
Description | Enter details about this plan to clarify its purpose. |
Active | Check this box if this pay plan is currently in use. If unchecked, the plan will not be available for selection on carrier or driver profiles. |
Primary method | Select Mileage to structure this pay plan by mileage. |
Fuel surcharge table | Select the fuel surcharge table to apply to this pay plan. |
Miles to exclude | Enter the number of miles to exclude from pay calculations. |
Lanes (seen below) | Define the areas and distance ranges that determine the pay rate. Lanes can be filtered by country, state, city, or zone, and each lane can have different rates based on total trip mileage. |

Distance Pay bucket
Distance Information
Lanes allow you to pay different rates per mile based on trip distance and route. Within each lane, you can define multiple distance ranges with different rates.
Example: For routes anywhere in the United States — trips of 0–100 miles pay $0.75/mile, 101–500 miles pay $0.65/mile, and 501–1,000 miles pay $0.55/mile. You may also choose to pay a single fixed rate per mile regardless of distance.
Calculating Stops
Use the Extra Stops tab to define how much, if anything, to pay for additional stops. You can use a stair-step approach that varies by number of stops, or pay a fixed amount for all stops. If nothing is configured here, the driver will not receive additional pay for stop charges. A driver on a per-mile pay plan will still be paid for miles between stops even if no stop charge pay is defined.

Extra stop pay

Pay on Trip for Stops from the example above
Example: The driver is paid $50 for the first extra stop, $40 for the second through fourth stops, and $30 for the fifth stop and beyond.
Flex Pay - Hourly
Flex Pay allows you to set up conditional "if/then" pay adjustments. Common uses include reducing pay for team drivers, setting up hourly pay, and configuring vendor pay scenarios.

Hourly Flex Pay

Hourly Flex Pay
Example: Pay the driver $30 per hour based on time from the first to last check call on the trip
Flex Pay - Team Per Mile
To reduce per-mile pay when a team is assigned, create a flex pay line for both the loaded and empty pay plans.

Flex Pay - Team Per Mile

Add Empty miles in Flex Pay

Edit Pay amounts for when a team is used
Example: A driver earning $0.42/mile is reduced to $0.21/mile when a team is assigned on the trip. A flex pay line is needed for both loaded and empty miles.
Flex Pay - Team Percentage Drivers
For percentage-based team drivers, create a flex pay line per payment type to reduce the percentage by 50%.

Flex Pay - Team Percentage Drivers

Flex Pay - Team Percentage Drivers
Note: This reduces the base pay amount used to calculate the percentage by half, effectively dividing total pay evenly between the two assigned drivers. This approach applies to both per-mile and percentage-based team pay plans.
Flex Pay - Vendor Pay Minus Driver Pay
Use this setup when paying a vendor from whose pay the driver's pay must be subtracted.

Vendor Pay Minus Driver Pay
Flex Pay - Percent of Driver, Carrier, or Carrier/Driver Pay
This set up will allow you to pay a vendor a percentage of driver or carrier pay. This set up will only work when applied to a vendor payee.

Flex Pay Percent of Driver/Carrier Pay
Flex Pay - Percent of AGR Margin
This setup pays a vendor a percentage of the AGR margin (AGR Revenue minus Pay). This configuration only applies when the payee is a vendor.

Percent of AGR Margin
Flex Pay - Percent of Margin
This setup pays a vendor a percentage of the total margin (Revenue minus Pay). This configuration only applies when the payee is a vendor.
