Company-owned devices can be distributed to drivers to give them access to Ditat Mobile Dispatch. When receiving new devices or refurbishing returned devices, complete the following steps to prepare them for use.
Note: The exact location of settings may vary slightly depending on the device model.
Device Setup Steps

Charge the device – Ensure the device holds a full day's battery life before proceeding.

Factory reset – Reset the device to factory conditions: Settings → Privacy/Storage → Factory Data Reset.

Connect to Wi-Fi – After the reset, connect to Wi-Fi to speed up the remaining steps.

Sign in to Google – Sign in to your designated Google account.

Skip app purchase prompts – Dismiss any prompts to purchase apps during setup.

Skip backup and location tracking – Do not enable any Google backup or location tracking options, as these consume data.

Activate the device (new devices only) – Settings → Activate Device.

Install app updates – Google Play → My Apps → Update All.

Install system updates – Settings → System Updates.

Download Ditat Mobile Dispatch – Install the app from Google Play.

Clean up the home screen – Remove all icons from the home screen, leaving only the Ditat Mobile Dispatch app for easy driver access.

Enable Unknown Sources – This allows Ditat to update itself: Settings → Security → Enable Unknown Sources.

Enable GPS – Turn on location services but do not enable Google tracking: Settings → Location Services.

Adjust display settings – Set Font Size to Large and Screen Timeout to 5 minutes for easier driver use: Settings → Display.

Disable tethering – Settings → More Settings.

Adjust general settings – Disable sync, disable screen rotation, and disable multi-window view.

Set up the driver in Ditat TMS – If not already done, create a user, device, and driver record in the TMS. See Maintain Drivers and Maintain Devices for more information.

Sign in to Ditat Mobile Dispatch – Log in using the driver's username and password.

Test messaging – Send a test message with an image attachment to confirm the device can send messages correctly.

Test GPS over cellular – Disable Wi-Fi and confirm that the device can track and upload its position using GPS over 3G/4G/LTE.

Check the device log – Verify there are no errors: Maintain Device → View Log.

Log out – Sign out of the Ditat Mobile Dispatch app.

Charge and store – Charge the device to 100%, turn it off, and it is ready to be issued to a driver.
Record-Keeping Recommendations
It is recommended to add notes in the Maintain Device screen in the following situations:

The device has been refurbished, tested, and is working correctly.

The device is being released to a specific driver.
-
The device is returned by a driver due to a defect. (Include the reason for the return.)

The device has been decommissioned or cancelled.
